
Okay:
Cream of Wheat, an American breakfast classic.
As a kid I would douse this morning meal of champions with Brown Sugar and REAL butter.
Oh boy this was so delicious.
Yet as I have changed my nutritional needs to enhance my health, physical and mental performance. This delicious morning meal of butter, brown sugar dressing a nutrient packed food, needed to change.
With my ever lasting thirst to explore and learn from other cultures, their styles of nutrients and the reasons behind it, have I been able to expand my plait and kitchen with a global perspective on nutritional health. From the athlete to the spiritual monk. Each having a different fueling plan to achieve a desired result.

My childhood cream of wheat was introduced to the east Indian style of cooking with cream of wheat:

Do share that chutney sauce as well. The flavours in that made my heart beat with excitement. I had to have great restraint from not sharing and just enjoying this meal all to myself ;-)
Ingredients for the cream of wheat dish:
1. Cream of wheat 2 cups
2. Ginger 1 inch very finely cubed
3. Curry leaves - 5- 7
4. 1 chili - cut very thinly sliced
5. lots of tomatoes
6. 2 tablespoons
7. urad dal ( 1 tea spoon) - also known as black gram dal
8. black mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon
9. red chillies - a couple
10. 6 cups of water ( use the same cup used for measure cream of wheat)
11. peanuts/ cashews or both
Method:
1. roast cream of wheat until golden brown in a pan - and cool it
2. cube tomatoes
3. prepare ginger and chilies
4. heat oil
5. add urad dal
6. when it is slightly turning brown, add peanuts, then ginger, curry leaves, chilies ( red and green), add mustard seeds last they will splatter - so watch out for the heated oil splatter - add tomatoes and cook the whole thing until the tomatoes stew...
Add the water, add salt to taste and let the whole concoction come to a vigorous rolling boil
7. add the cream of wheat in while stirring the pot in a circular motion so there are no lumps ...
8. when the whole mix is even - simmer for a few minutes (no more 5-7 mins)
9. add ghee as garnish
10. and serve it hot
